Candles VS Diffusers

Who doesn‘t love to walk into a room and smell a beautiful scent?

But at what cost?

Let’s talk about candles- Paraffin candles when burned create highly toxic toluene and benzene (same as diesel fumes) which can cause damage to the brain, lung and central nervous system, as well as cause developmental difficulties.

There are also many other ingredients that may be present in the paraffin mixture and released through burning like: Acetone, Trichlorofluoromethane, Carbon Disulfide, 2-Butanone, Trichloroethane, Trichloroethene, Carbon Tetrachloride, Tetrachloroethene, Chlorobenzene, Ethylbenzene, Styrene, Xylene, Phenol, Cresol, Cyclopentene.

.... crazy......

moving on.

If the wick isn’t 100% cotton, it may contain heavy metals like lead.

Wick test:

(rub the tip of the wick of on a piece of paper. If it leaves a gray mark, like a pencil, the wick contains a lead core)

Artificial scents and dyes that make your candles look oh so pretty and smell oh so nice - release even more toxins in the air of your home.

So is the “nice” smell of a candle even worth the harmful benefits to your health/ your kids, pets and loved ones?

Let's explore other options like diffusers.

Diffuser: a small device with a light, airy mist emanating from the top.

It takes essential oils and releases them into the air in a fine mist. When a diffuser takes an essential oil and transforms it into a microscopic mist of oil droplets, it disperses the droplets (and scent) throughout the air, allowing you to experience the aroma for an extended time.

Diffusers are becoming increasingly popular because, unfortunately, many of the alternatives—candles, air fresheners, and plugins—can release toxins into the air. By opting for essential oils, you get a better, purer aroma, because essential oils come straight from the plant.

Ultrasonic diffusers offer the best value for anyone who wants to enjoy their essential oils by diffusing.  Ultrasonic Diffuser use water and electronic frequencies to create that fine essential oil mist we talked about earlier. These types of diffusers are extremely easy to use and only require a small amount of essential oil to create a robust, long-lasting aroma. They also tend to run quieter, so you won’t even notice they’re there.

Now if you must, absolutely use a candle there are candles that are a little better than paraffin ones.

Thankfully, more and more people are becoming aware of the demand for cleaner option so there are some candle options on the market than aren’t as harmful!

Better Candle Options: 100% soy, coconut, beeswax scented with pure essentials oils and cotton wicks.
